It is our policy that all children should wear school uniform when attending school, or when participating in school-organised events outside normal school hours. This policy booklet contains a list of all items needed for winter and summer terms and for PE in school and at outside events plus any rules regarding accessories. Logo items, PE bags and book bags are all available from the school office; further details are contained in this policy booklet. 

Our policy is based on the notion that a school uniform: 

• Promotes a sense of pride in the school; 

• Engenders a feeling of community and belonging; 

• Is practical and smart; 

• Identifies children with the school; 

• Is not distracting in class (as fashion clothes might be); 

• Makes children feel equal to their peers in terms of appearance; 

• Is regarded suitable and good value for money by most parents; 

• Has been designed with health and safety in mind.

We expect all children to wear the correct school uniform. Uniform should be clean, smart, tidy, should fit well and be worn with pride.

Winter Uniform

Girls

• Grey skirt, grey culottes, pinafore dress or smart grey trousers
• White polo shirt
• Sweatshirt with logo or cardigan with logo (no plain sweatshirts or cardigans)
• Grey knee length socks or grey tights
• Coat
• Leather black shoes (no boots or trainers)

Boys

• Smart grey trousers
• White polo shirt
• Sweatshirt with logo (no plain sweatshirts)
• Grey socks
• Coat
• Leather black shoes (no boots or trainers)

Please Note - children will change into trainers or outdoor shoes at playtimes. Please ensure these are in school every day and check regularly for size.
School book bag will be required (unless otherwise specified by individual teacher)

Summer Uniform

As per winter uniform with the addition/change of the following items:

• Pale blue and white gingham dress (styles similar to picture)
• Grey shorts
• White knee length or ankle socks (no trainer socks) to go with gingham dress
• Grey knee length or ankle socks (no trainer socks) to go with shorts or trousers
• Black leather shoes (no sandals and trainers)

PE Kit

All children

• Navy blue football shorts (plain with no logos)
• Navy blue shorts or cycling shorts (no logos)
• House colour plain round-necked t-shirt (no polo shirts)
• Year 1-6 children – White t-shirt with school logo for outside events
• Trainers (suitable for all sports)
• White or grey socks (no trainer socks)
• Navy blue plain jogging bottoms (no logos) (optional for colder days)
• Plain navy blue sweatshirt (optional for
colder days)
• School PE kit bag

House Colours

• Watson – Red
• Walters – Blue
• Applegate – Green
• Cowper - Yellow

Swimming

• A one-piece swimming costume of any colour
• Short shorts (not Bermuda) or trunks of any colour
• Towel
• Flip flops or other suitable poolside shoes
(We supply armbands)

Jewellery

For safety reasons we ask that children do not wear jewellery in school. A child may wear a watch, but this must not be a smart watch and the school cannot accept responsibility for it. If your child has pierced ears, please make sure they only wear small plain gold or silver studs in school. They will need to cover their earrings with micropore tape during P.E. lessons.

Haircuts

Pupils should ensure that hair that is on or below shoulder length is tied up completely with a navy blue or white hairband, no bigger than 5cm. Extreme haircuts and coloured hair are not permitted.

Footwear

The school wants all children to grow into healthy adults. We believe that it is dangerous for children to wear shoes with platform soles or high heels in school, so we do not allow this. Neither do we allow children to wear trainers or boots to school; these are appropriate for sport or leisurewear but are not in keeping with the smart appearance of a school uniform. We require all children to wear the type of shoe described in the uniform listed.
