School Uniform Policy

At Grove Wood Primary School we believe that a school uniform is important; it looks smart, encourages a sense of pride for pupils and also promotes a feeling of belonging within the community. A smart appearance helps to reinforce the School’s message about our high standards and expectations for every pupil.

 

We ask that all children wear the correct uniform and maintain a good standard of clean and tidy dress while in school. The uniform consists of:

· White polo shirts with or without the school logo/white button down shirt or plain white blouse. NB year 6 only - white button down shirt with school tie.

· Black trousers, skirt or pinafore.

· Purple sweatshirt/cardigan – with school logo.

· Fleeces with school logo are also available (optional).

 

Optional in the summer :

· Summer dresses – lilac/white check.

· Tailored shorts – black.

 

Footwear :

· Sensible shoes– black. No boots or open toed sandals.

 

 

 

Physical Education :

For health and safety reasons it is important that children are dressed appropriately for physical activity. All pupils need to wear shorts (black/white/purple) and a purple t-shirt (with logo). PE kit should be kept in a named drawstring bag. Pupils will also need plimsolls and suitable trainers as we undertake activities outside. PE kit can, if desired, be ordered from the same supplier as the school uniform. In years 3-6 a track suit (any colour) may also be worn in cooler weather. Jewellery should not be worn for PE therefore children must be capable of removing their own earrings prior to the lesson.

 

Book bags, PE bags and backpacks are available to order through the school supplier but these are optional.

 

Not accepted as school uniform are:

· Tracksuits, sport shorts, trainers and hooded tops.

Please ensure that all clothing is clearly labelled with your child’s name. Thank you.

·         PE Tshirt (boys and girls)

 

Other items with the School logo (such as book bags, PE bags, fleeces etc) are optional.
