School uniform plays a valuable role in contributing to the
ethos of a school and setting an appropriate tone. At High View we believe that
school uniform is important for the following reasons:
The wearing of school uniform is a key school rule and our
uniform code is strongly enforced. On entering school parents and pupils sign the
Home School Agreement which emphasizes this aspect of the school’s
Non-school uniform items are not acceptable.
Staff at the school will speak to children who are not
wearing the correct uniform. Parents will be written to if the uniform rules
are not adhered to.

clothes should be clearly marked.
In writing our school uniform code we have worked to ensure
that our school uniform is both inexpensive, that it is easy to find retailers
who sell appropriate items and above all that it is practical.
The Department for Children, Schools and Families strongly
encourages all schools to have a uniform as it can instill pride; support
positive behaviour and discipline; encourage identity with, and support for,
school ethos; ensure pupils of all races and backgrounds feel welcome; protect
children from social pressures to dress in a particular way; and nurture
cohesion and promote good relations between different groups of pupils. Above
all, many schools believe that school uniform supports effective teaching and

coat, the head teacher, on behalf of the Governors, reserves the right to
prohibit the wearing of coats (or any other item of clothing) carrying

No jewellery may be worn, this includes earrings at any time
(the exception to this is plain studs or sleepers which can be worn providing
the child can take them out as needed).
Extreme hairstyles are strongly discouraged
Any hair which reaches the shoulder must be tied back with
scrunchies and hair bands in school colours maroon, grey or black.
Make up should not be worn in school including nail varnish.
